As a result of previous projects with Baptist East Hospital we were asked to develop a furniture package that was consistent with the overall architecture while meeting financial parameters.

The doctor's lounge needed to encompass space for serving breakfast & lunch, dictation area, computer access to patient information, and a lounge for relaxation.

The custom designed bar of natural cherry wood and black granite counter provided a space for food service, as well as, a place to relax in front of the television and read.

The lounge area with large leather chairs, sofa, and television armoire provided a place of respite from the stress of providing patient care.

Framed Hermes scarves add color and provide a reference to the areas strong heritage of thoroughbred horse farms.

A recessed opening with large columns off of the main lobby provides easy access to Admitting. Each outpatient service has its own reception desk, waiting area, and private offices for registration.

In order to provide dimension to the long narrow corridor in the Administration suite, custom carpet insets were designed to create the image of area rugs. The same rhythm was mirrored in the ceiling with a recessed cove that housed indirect lighting and decorative pendants.

Painted wood panel molding , traditional mahogany wood desks, and green and gold tones were used throughout to achieve a traditional feel.

The heart catheter laboratory is located in the lower level of the hospital; therefore it was important to create a space using architectural details and finishes that gave it an uplifting and prominent feeling.

In the elevator lobby coffered ceiling tiles, white columns, faux stone floors and wood details enrich the space. The curved wall enlarges the space and visually directs patients to the reception desk.

With the use of color, pattern and texture, the aesthetics of the reception area was continued into the suite without compromise of function or maintainability.

Physicians requested that the facade to the operating rooms to be less intimidating since children are awake when they enter the opeating rooms. Doors were accented with boldly colored geometric shapes with custom signage using a child's handwriting font. Tropical fish stencils applied around the walls, and teal-colored inlaid sheet vinyl were all used to create the environment.

The animal and color scheme of the main rotunda lobby were carried through to registration. The floor pattern, offset doors with decorative trim, glass side panels, star-burst wall sconces and ceiling signage all call attention to prominent entrances throughout the surgical suite.

The Caritas Medical Mall is one of the only facilities of its kind in the country. Caritas Health Services has a vision of promoting wellness in a mall atmosphere for ease of convenience to the patient as well as providing a state of the art facility.

The Mall is located in a shopping center with close proximity to the hospital. The main entrance has a covered drop-off area for patients. Natural light and live plants help to set the tone for the facility.

The Clark Memorial Hospital lobby features a two-story atrium with a cascading waterfall. Two large mall corridors lead to newly renovated administrative and clinical departments; Administration, Admitting, Education Center, Library, Medical Records, Cardiac Rehab, Emergency, Outpatient Services, and Physical Therapy.

Our design team created an information desk of two-toned wood, accented with lighting to add warmth and sophistication to granite floor surfaces.

Our primary design objective was to distract children and their families from the seriousness of their condition upon arrival to surgery at Kosair Children's Hospital. This was accomplished in the main rotunda through the use of domed ceilings painted with clouds supported by a circle of sculptured circus animals. The animals are perched on television monitors that show cartoons.

As you enter the unit, the nurse station resembles the registration desk of a hotel. The stair-stepped opening constructed of wood and granite create the focal point for patients and visitors. The insertion of plum carpet in the marble foyer further emphasizes the point of reception and assists in wayfinding.

The large pendant light fixtures of alabaster and brass help achieve the hospitality look while also softening the space. Wall sconces throughout the corridors add indirect lighting that accent patient rooms.

The Health and Information Center was created to provide resource information for the public. Space was also provided for a 40 person classroom to provide lectures as well as CPR classes. A medical review area was designed to provide blood screenings and various screening tests.

The front entrance was created to provide a friendly inviting entrance with an unobtrusive reception desk. The light-colored wood floors with oriental carpet provide a residential atmosphere where "Mall Walkers" can gather for coffee, fruit, or conversation.

Directing patients to the appropriate facility and reassuring them that they have arrived at the correct location is an integral aspect of customer service. Managing pedestrian and vehicular traffic flow patterns is important in achieving success.

Rough-cut limestone was replicated in fiberglass for the base of the exterior signs. The pyramid shapes in the corner were taken from the bollards on the parking deck. The spruce color matches the connecting pedway and the hospital's choice of color to symbolize their new identity.
